AlamCera: A Malay Folklore Mobile Game Development Based On Action Adventure Game

AlamCera is a 2D-pixel art platformer that implements elements of action and adventure, across four levels, each inspired by iconic tales from Malay folklore.

 It is developed for my final year university project and aims to promote traditional Malay stories or fairytales with a global audience, highlighting the moral values passed down through generations.

You play as Budi, a loyal palace guard in the mythical realm of AlamCera — a name derived from "Alam" (realm) and "Cera", a nod to Cerita Rakyat (folklore).  When the King of AlamCera is kidnapped by the fearsome Sang Kelembai, it’s up to you to embark on a quest to rescue him.

Armed with a sacred magical staff that can briefly turn enemies into stone — the only power capable of countering Sang Kelembai — you’ll make your way through a pixelated world inspired by Malay folklore. Along the journey, you’ll meet familiar characters like Sang Kancil and Mat Jenin, taking part in their stories as you explore the obstacles in each level through simple, action-based gameplay.
